  1. Ginger water :

Ginger is known to work well for weight loss, along with a healthy diet. Ginger contains the compounds gingerols and shogaols, which once consumed, can have an anti-obesity effect, which aids food digestion and helps maintain a stable and healthy weight.

Ingredients:

1 cup water

1 tsp freshly sliced or grated ginger

Honey to taste (optional)

¼ tsp lemon juice (optional)

Method:

In a heating pot, add in one cup of water and let it come to a boil, then add in the freshly sliced/grated ginger and let it simmer for 15 minutes on low flame, while covering the pot with lid. Then turn off the flame and strain the mixture into a glass and add in the honey and lemon juice. Stir it well and it is ready to consume.

2. Cumin water:

Cumin is rich in antioxidants and have polyphenols and catechins in abundance, which can help the body to boost its metabolism and in turn stimulates weight loss and fat burn.

Ingredients:

1 cup of water

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

Method:

In a heating pot, add in one cup of water and once the water is heated, add in the cumin seeds. Let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes before turning off the flame. Strain and add in honey and lemon juice. Give it a stir before consuming.

  1. Chia Lemon water:

Chia seeds can help promote weight loss because chia seeds are rich in protein and can help reduce appetite and food intake. They absorb large amounts of water as they are soluble fibres and once consumed they expand in the stomach and make the person full, in turn reducing the intake or consumption of food.

Ingredients:

1 glass water

½ tsp chia seeds

¼ tsp lemon juice (optional)

Honey (optional)

Method:

Into a glass of water, add in the chia seeds, lemon juice and honey to taste. Give it a mix and let it sit for an hour, so that the chia seeds will expand. Once the chia seeds have bloated, it is ready to drink.

MATCHA TEA - WHAT IT IS AND HOW TO USE IT RECIPE

  1. Matcha tea:

Matcha tea helps boost body metabolism with its active compound ECEG (Epigallocatechin Gallate) that stimulates fat breakdown. Matcha tea is also very low in calories and can reduce the storage of fat upon consumption. Drinking matcha tea can help in the detoxification of the body thus improving digestion and promoting weight loss.

Ingredients:

1 cup hot water

1 tsp matcha

¼ cup vegan milk (optional)
(If you are using milk, then use only ¾ cup of water)

Method:

Into a cup, add in the matcha powder and just a little of the water and stir this mixture very well for a few minutes, until the mixture starts to froth up a little bit. You can even use a Chasen (also known as a bamboo matcha whisk) at this stage. Then once the mixture is nice and frothy, add in the rest of the hot water (and milk), stir well with a spoon and it is ready to consume.

Tip: Adding a sweetener like honey or maple syrup, along with some milk can help reduce the bitter flavor.

It is important to also note that the benefits of matcha tea are more without the addition of milk or sweeteners.
