Are you looking for natural ways to help your skin get that glow up? Try matcha! Matcha is a finely ground powder of specially shade grown and then harvested green tea leaves.
How is matcha different from green tea?
Matcha and green tea both come from the same plant camellia sinensis. But the plants which are going to be used to make matcha are kept away from sunlight (giving the leaves the darker green colour and increasing the production of amino acids) for around a month, before they are harvested. That’s what makes matcha different from regular green tea.
How does matcha benefit your skin?
Matcha is very high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, which can be very beneficial to skin health and for people with acne. It can also help treat skin infections, skin redness, minor cuts, sunburns etc. Matcha contains methylxanthines which is a type of drug that can help stimulate microcirculation in the skin and help it look more healthy and radiant and gives your skin a glow up by supporting healthy complexion.
Matcha contains a type of plant-based compound called catechin, which is formally known as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). These catechins belong to a larger group of plant compounds known as polyphenols. This property of matcha helps improve the skin’s appearance and can slow down the signs of aging causing wrinkles and fine lines by preventing the skin from free radical damage. It can help fight dull skin, make the skin texture smoother, keep the skin moisturized and nourished in turn making your complexion more radiant, giving it that perfect glow.
Therefore, consuming matcha tea has antioxidant properties which are way higher than consuming just green tea.
