Healthy chia water

Here are some drinks you can make at home, to drink as soon as you wake up in the morning:

1. Chia Water:

Adding chia seeds in your water can help promote weight loss and reduce belly fat because chia seeds are rich in protein and can help reduce one’s appetite and food intake. The fibre in chia seeds help in the slow absorption of food, keeping you full for a longer time and improve digestion, in turn making a person consume lesser food and gain lesser calories. Chia seeds are rich in antioxidants and can help fight free radical damage, that leaves your skin healthy and glowing. These seeds are high in fibre, protein and omega-3s which could help reduce the risk of developing heart diseases. Consumption of these seeds can improve bone health because it has essential nutrients like calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.

Here’s how you can make it:

Ingredients:

  • ½ tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 glass of water (250 ml)
  • ½ tsp cucumber or lemon juice (optional)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

Method:

Into a glass of water, add in the chia seeds and let it sit for 15 minutes to an hour. You will start to see the seeds plump up and begin to float around in the water. It is ready to consume. If you wish to flavour it, you can add in lemon and honey, stir well and consume this on an empty stomach and wait for half an hour before consuming any other food or beverage.

Tip: You could make mix the chia seeds in the water before you go to bed and leave it overnight and then consume it the next morning.

2. Lemon Water:

Lemons are high in vitamin C. This property of lemons can help fight free radical damage to the body. It helps to filter out toxins from the body and can protect the liver from damage by helping the body cleanse itself naturally and also reduce fat in the liver. Lemons have antioxidant properties which can help reduce skin damage and premature aging. Apart from the other benefits of lemon water, this drink can also help aid digestion and boost the body metabolism in turn promoting weight loss and fat burn very more easily. Lemon water acts as a natural diuretic which can decrease the fluid build-up in the body that can trigger high blood pressure which could lead to heart problems. This drink can help the body get rid of this excess salt by urination and it can help normalize one’s blood pressure levels.

Caution:

Do not over consume lemon juice or lemon water as it also does have its side effects. Consume it in moderation. Excessive consumption of lemon juice or lemon water can lead to enamel (the outermost layer of a tooth) corrosion or tooth decay, heartburn, nausea and vomiting, Gastroesophageal reflux symptoms etc.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 glass water (250 ml)

Method:

In a glass of warm water, add in the lemon juice and honey and stir well. Drink this on an empty stomach early morning and wait for half an hour before consuming any food or any other beverage.

Caution: Those who suffer from pollen allergies can avoid consuming honey.

3. CCF Tea

CCF tea is short for Cumin Coriander and Fennel (CCF) tea, which is very often known as “miracle tea”, as it has multiple benefits from the powers of these three powerful ingredients, apart from promoting overall health and detoxification of the body. Regular consumption of amla gives you blemish-free skin and strong hair. It is one of the richest sources of Vitamin C. Ingredients:

  • Amla- 7 or 8 (medium sized)
  • Honey- 1 tablespoon
  • Green cardamom- ½ teaspoon
  • Ice cubes and water- as per requirement

Procedure: Grate the amla and do away with the seeds. Put the grated amla in a blender along with water to make a smooth paste. Strain the liquid. Add cardamom, honey, salt and sugar and blend them together again with the amla juice. Enjoy the juice topped with some ice cubes.
