 Easy Pizza Dough

How to Make Pizza| Pizza Base, Pizza Sauce and More

1. Easy Pizza Dough

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 packet or 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Method:

Into a bowl, add in the warm water, along with the yeast and sugar and give it a stir. Let the mixture sit for 5 to 10 minutes, until you begin to see it frothy with bubbles. Thereafter, stir in the olive oil and set it aside.

Next, into a large mixing bowl, add in 2 cups of the all-purpose flour and the salt, mix and thereafter, little by little add in the warm yeast-sugar-oil mixture and knead, until all the mixture has been poured in.

Note: In case you find the dough not forming into a ball while kneading (it should leave the sides of the mixing bowl), add in some of the all-purpose flour little by little until the dough ball is well formed.

Lastly, cover and let it sit for about an hour until the dough rises and it is then ready to flatten into the pizza base.

 Pizza Sauce

2. Pizza Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt or more to taste
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon cane sugar
  • ¼ – ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes or freshly ground black pepper (depending on heat preference)

Method:

Combine all of your ingredients in the bowl of a food processor or blender and pulse together until well combined and blended. You can use the sauce to make pizza right away, but for best results, cover and refrigerate for the flavors to meld at least 2 hours or store in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 weeks

3. Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1½ cups water
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast

Method:

Into a mixing bowl, add in the instant yeast, along with the sugar and 1 cup of the water. Mix well until the sugar is well-dissolved. Next, add in the lemon juice, salt, olive oil and whole wheat flour and knead well for about 8 to 10 minutes. If the dough isn’t forming into a ball and leaving the sides, add in little more of the water if need be. Knead until the dough forms a soft ball.

Lastly, cover and let it sit for about an hour until the dough rises. Once risen, knead again and then it is then ready to flatten into the pizza base.

4. Pizza Dough without Yeast – only 2 ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

Make self-rising flour at home – Making self-rising flour at home is easy. Just use this basic formula: For every 1 cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon fine salt. Whisk the ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl, put them in a glass jar, and shake well.

Method:

Into a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and yogurt, and give it a mix. Use your hands to mix the ingredients together to a smooth dough. Lightly dust a surface with flour and press the dough to a flat pizza shape.
