How to make these date and nut bars at home?
Ingredients:
Dates
Mixed nuts
Water
Method:
Step 1: Into a container of hot water, soak the dates for 15 minutes until they soften. Make sure that all the dates are well submerged in the water.
Step 2: After 15 minutes, drain out the water from the dates and de-seed them before setting them aside.
Step 3: Into a heated pan, on low heat, roast some mixed nuts of your choice for a few minutes. Thereafter, remove from the heat and set aside until cool.
Nuts you could use: Cashewnuts, almonds, walnuts, pistachios, etc.
Step 4: Into a heated pan, add in the dates and mash the dates with the ladle until soft. Keep mixing until the dates form a thick paste and begin to leave the sides of the pan.
Step 5: Chop up the mixed nuts and add it into the date paste. Mix well and turn off the heat.
Step 6: Pour this date and nut mixture into a non-stick container (or any tray lined with a baking sheet for easy removal) and let it cool in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours. You can also roll them into small balls.
Thereafter, you can demould the date and nut slab, cut them into bars and it is ready to consume!
