HAIR HACKS TO HELP YOU GROW OUT YOUR HAIR

1. Trimming your hair regularly:

A lot of times the tips of our hair tend to get split ends and tend to look dry and damaged. Trimming your hair is not a haircut, but just getting rid of the damaged portion of your hair which could be just a couple of inches.

The question of how often should hair be trimmed may arise. Well, this is a personal decision, which should be made based on your hair care routine and how often you style or treat your hair with styling products, hair styling heat treatments, hair dyeing etc. But, on an average, trimming your hair once in four months is ideal, but for those who want to retain their hair length, then trimming it once in six months would be ideal.

There is a common misconception about trimming hair often leading to faster hair growth. That is in fact not true, but trimming your hair regularly will help your hair look healthier and make it more manageable.

2. Onion for hair growth:

Onion contains sulfur that helps to stop hair fall and regrow thinning hair. So use onion oil or onion peel hair rinse regularly to grow out your hair. Take 2 organic onions and clean them thoroughly. Peel the skin and add them to a saucepan with 2 cups of water. Let it simmer on low for 5 mins and use it water before washing your hair. Spray it all over your scalp and let it sit for 30 mins before you wash it off.

3. Scalp care:

Scalp care is just as important as hair care. This is because the hair follicles grow out of the scalp, which will then promote healthy hair growth right from its root. A lot of times, because of the types of products we use, dirt and grime, over exposure to pollution, etc can cause the scalp to be dirty and pores to get clogged with product build up, dead skin cells, etc and the clogged pores make it difficult for proper blood circulation to stimulate proper growth of new hair follicles. It can also cause itchiness, dandruff and skin infections which can lead to hair fall. READ MORE – SCALP SCRUB RECIPES – stop hair fall and thicker hair growth

4. Oiling your hair and gently massaging it in:

Oiling of hair is a practice followed since ages. It involves pouring of oil onto the scalp and hair in order to improve the blood circulation of the scalp, to increase hair growth by stimulating the hair follicles, improve hair texture and lustre, decrease hair loss and make the hair look shiny and smooth. Our hair is exposed all the time and can get dry, damaged and lose its lustre and shine over time. Therefore, oiling your hair can be beneficial to save the hair from damage and promote hair repair and hair growth over time.

All you need to do is, choose an oil of your choice, warm up the oil just a little and do not make it too hot, as it will burn the scalp. This step is important as the warm oil can penetrate into the hair follicles more easily and soothe the scalp and stimulate hair growth. Partition your hair and evenly apply the oil onto the scalp and hair. Massage the oil into your scalp using gentle and circular motions and do this for around 5 to 10 minutes. Start with the scalp and then work your way down to the hair until the tips of the hair. This process will enhance blood circulation in the scalp and can stimulate the hair follicles, in turn promoting hair growth.

6. Use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair:

The choice of comb you use to brush your hair is very important. This tip is very important especially for those people with dry hair or curly hair as tangles are more common. Using a wide-tooth comb will help you to easily get rid of tangles while also protecting the hair and reducing hair fall. Using brushes or fine-toothed combs make your hair more prone to damage and breakage when tangled as tangles cannot pass through it easily, causing it to get damaged or causing unnecessarily hair breakage.

7. Do not tie up or comb out wet hair:

A lot of people tie up their wet hair into a towel, once they come out from a head shower. This practice can cause you to have hair fall. The reason being, the hair is very fragile when it is wet making it easier for it to break or fall out. This is the same reason as to why hair should not be combed when it is wet.

The question of how to dry out hair after a head shower may arise. Well, pat drying your hair with a towel is ideal and then leaving it to dry out naturally or else you can tie up your hair with a towel for just a few minutes until the water soaks into the towel and then take it down, but do not leave it in for long time. Instead, you can cover your back with the towel and place your hair over it, so that your top doesn’t get wet.

8. Do not wash your hair with hot water:

Hot water will weaken the hair and open up the pores, making it easier for the hair to fall out. It can also make the hair dry, brittle and frizzy, stripping the moisture away, which can cause hair breakage. Therefore, using lukewarm water to wash your hair is ideal. It will wash away product build up, dirt and grime, while also preserving the hair’s natural oils and keep the scalp hydrated and moisturized.
