Benefits of using egg for your hair:

Egg yolks contain biotin that can keep your hair hydrated and promote hair elasticity. Biotin, also known as vitamin H, is a vitamin which is naturally present in food such as milk, eggs, bananas etc, which plays an important role in protecting the health of the hair, skin and nails. It can also help in the reduction of hair loss, prevention of split ends and also prevent brittle nails.

Biotin improves the body’s keratin structure and keratin is a protein that makes up the hair, skin and nails. Eggs also contain lecithin and protein, that can strengthen, nourish and heal the hair strands. Lecithin plays an important role in promoting hair growth because lecithin is a fat essentially present in the cells of the body and it is an ideal cure especially for those with dry, damaged and brittle hair. Eggs contain protein which is important for hair growth as the hair follicles are made of mostly protein and a lack of protein in your diet can lead to hair loss.

Using an egg mask twice a week can help balance out hair sebum. Sebum is the oily waxy substance secreted by the body’s sebaceous glands and when your scalp s very greasy and oily, it can be a cause to develop dandruff. Therefore, using an egg mask can prevent dandruff from forming.

Egg for hair growth

Egg contains protein and biotin the two main nutrients required for hair growth. Lack of protein in your diet can cause hair fall and thinning hair so consume an egg everyday to give your hair required nutrients for hair growth.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or castor oil
  • 2 drops of any essential oil of your choice
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)

Method:

Into a mixing bowl, add in one egg and beat it up until it becomes completely liquid. Then, add in the coconut oil, essential oil and honey and mix well until it is well combined.

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Method:

Tips:

If you wish to, you can separate the egg yolk from the egg white and use only the egg yolk to prepare your egg mask. Use this mask when your hair is completely dry before your head bath and not on wet or damp hair. Increase or decrease the quantities proportionally, as per the volume and length of your hair.  

How to apply, using two ways:

Method 1: Start off with detangling your hair and make it free from knots. Then, into a liquid applicator bottle, pour in this mixture. Then, partition your hair and evenly apply this onto your scalp and on your hair using downward strokes. Lastly, massage it in gently using your fingertips and tie your hair into a loose bun or preferably tie your hair into a shower cap and leave it on for two hours. Rinse your hair using a mild shampoo and conditioner and let your hair dry naturally.

Method 2: Start off with detangling your hair and make it free from knots. Then, pour this mixture into a small bowl. Then, partition your hair and evenly apply this into your scalp using a cotton pad and then you can apply it on your hair using downward strokes. Lastly, massage it in gently using your fingertips and tie your hair into a loose bun or preferably tie your hair into a shower cap and leave it on for one hour. Rinse your hair using a mild shampoo and conditioner and let your hair dry naturally.
