AMLA TEA: RECIPE

Ingredients:

  • Amla powder- 1 teaspoon
  • Shredded ginger- ½ teaspoon
  • Water- 1 ¼ cups
  • pinch salt and pepper 

Procedure: Pour the water in a pot and place it over medium flame. Add alma powder and ginger shreds to the water. Wait for a while till the brew starts simmering. Once it starts boiling, turn off the heat. Strain it into a cup. You may add a dash of salt and pepper.

AMLA JUICE: RECIPE (with sugar)

Ingredients:

  • Amla- 7 or 8 (medium sized)
  • Honey- 1 tablespoon
  • Green cardamom- ½ teaspoon
  • Ice cubes and water- as per requirement

Procedure: Grate the amla and do away with the seeds. Put the grated amla in a blender along with water to make a smooth paste. Strain the liquid. EXTRA TIPS

  • You can soak amla in salt water for a few hours to lower its bitter and tart taste.
  • It is better to restrict yourself to drinking around 30 ml amla juice or amla tea a day. Do not go overboard.
  • It is better to drink these beverages empty stomach, in the morning.
  • Consume immediately after preparing.
  • If you have a surgery scheduled, do not consume amla tea or juice two weeks before and two weeks post surgery.
