There’s a saying that goes like this – “Nothing can go wrong with vinegar”. Well, vinegar is one of the most versatile ingredients in your kitchen, trust me!
I’ve tried and tested out numerous hacks using vinegar and I had already let you in on some of them in the part – 1 of my vinegar hacks article.
Well, guess what! Here’s another article, part – 2, of different hacks you can use vinegar for. Check it out below!
Here are 18 hacks to use vinegar in your daily lives:
1. Add Apple Cider Vinegar in Pet’s Water for Fleas
Add equal quantities of apple cider vinegar with water into a spray bottle and spray it over your pets to help repel fleas and ticks.
2. Vinegar for Sticky and Greasy Pans
Add equal quantities of white vinegar with water into a spray bottle and spray it over your sticky/greasy pans and let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse off using water and a mild detergent.
3. Vinegar to Clean the Shower Head
Into a small sized plastic bag, add in white vinegar to fill it up to half. Immerse your shower head into it and tie it with a rubber band or string. Let it sit for 30 to 40 minutes and then rinse off with plain water and scrub using an old toothbrush. Rinse off and wipe with a cloth.
4. Vinegar as a best Window or Glass Cleaner
Combine 1/4 cup rubbing alchocol, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 tbsp cornstarch and 2 cups warm water in a spray bottle, and shake well. Shake well before using, too, as the cornstarch might settle at the bottom. Spray and wipe down with a microfiber cloth.
5. Apple Cider Vinegar for Leg Cramps
In a glass, add in ¼ cup warm water and 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Mix it and consume on a daily basis to reduce leg cramps. Keep a bottle next to you when you are asleep, massage the vinegar immediately into the stressed muscles when you first feel a cramp coming on.
6. Vinegar to Peel Eggs Easily
Add in a tablespoon of white vinegar into your pot of water while boiling eggs. It can help you peel off the shells easily and more quicker.
7. Vinegar as a Fabric Softener
Add ½ cup of diluted white vinegar into your softener dispenser into your washing machine before the final cycle, to help soften fabric.
8. Vinegar to Repel Ants and Spiders
Mix 1 part of vinegar in 3 parts of water and spray it over your countertops in the kitchen, bathrooms and places where ants and spiders inhabit the area, to help repel them.
9. Vinegar to Remove Rust
Into a bowl of warm water, add in ½ cup of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Place all the rusted metal items (make sure they are submerged) and let it sit overnight.
Scrub off using a steel wool brush/scrubber and rinse with plain water the next day.
10. Vinegar to Clean Glass Stove Tops
Add equal quantities of white vinegar with water into a spray bottle and spray it over your glass stove top (once all the burners are cool) and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then, wipe it clean with a microfiber towel to get rid of any food debris. For tougher stains, sprinkle baking soda and leave it on for 10 mins and then spray vinegar over it.
11. Vinegar as a Car De-icer
Mix 3 parts of vinegar and 1 part of water in a spray bottle and spray it liberally over your frozen car windows/windshield and it will de-ice very easily and quickly.
12. Apple Cider Vinegar to Keep Flowers Alive
Into your flower vase with water, add in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of sugar, mix it and change the mixture every three days to keep your flowers fresh.

14. Vinegar to Shine Leather Furniture
Mix ½ cup olive oil with ¼ cup vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz it over leather furniture, let it sit for a few minutes and wipe with a microfiber towel to shine leather furniture.
15. Vinegar to Clean Hard Paint Brushes
Into a disposable aluminium baking tray, place the paintbrush, add over it hot (almost boiled) vinegar over it and let it soak for about 10 to 20 minutes.
Then, use a brush comb or a wire comb to help you get rid of the softened paint. Thereafter, wash the brush with a mild detergent and warm water.
Rinse off with plain water and let the paintbrush dry, while kept hanging.
16. Vinegar to Pull Out Candle Wax
Make a mixture of white vinegar and water in the ratio 1:1. Use it as a cleaning spray to help get rid of the candle wax.
17. Add Vinegar While Boiling Eggs
If you add a tablespoon of vinegar into the water when you’re boiling eggs, it can help reduce the chances of your eggs cracking, as the egg shell gets strengthened.
18. Vinegar to Remove Wallpaper
Make a 1:1 ratio solution of vinegar and water and pour into a spray bottle. Spray it al over the scoured wallpaper. The vinegar can help breakdown the glue of the wallpaper and can let it come off quickly and easily.
19. Clean coffee pot
To deep clean your coffee maker or coffee pot, Add up to 4 cups of undiluted vinegar to the reservoir. Let stand 30 minutes. Run the vinegar through a brewing cycle. Follow with two to three cycles of fresh water until the vinegar smell is gone.
20. Vinegar as a Weed Killer
Fill a bucket with 1 galloon of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap and 1 cup of salt and give it a mix. Spray this mixture over the weeds in your garden (not on the good plants), to help get rid of weeds.
