8 Natural Cleaners You Can Make At Home This Summer:

1. Glass or Mirror Cleaners

You will need:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/8 cup rubbing alcohol
  • ½ tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/8 cup white vinegar

Method:

Into a spray bottle, add in the warm water, rubbing alcohol, cornstarch and white vinegar. Give it a good mix and thereafter, spray all over the glass/mirror surface. Once sprayed, use a dry microfiber towel to wipe it down.

Note: Shake the bottle well each time before use.

2. All-purpose Cleaners

You will need:

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 10 to 15 drops essential oil (of your choice)
  • ½ cup water

Method:

Into a spray bottle (12 ounce spray bottle should suffice), add in the white vinegar, water and essential oil and give it a mix. Then, add in the baking soda and give it a shake (gently).

Your all-purpose cleaner is ready. It can be used for any purpose from cleaning of kitchen countertops, furniture cleaner, table cleaner, for windows, oven and fridge cleaning etc.

3. Mattress Cleaners

You will need:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 20 drops essential oil (of your choice)

Method:

All you need to do is sprinkle some baking soda mixed with a few drops of essential oil all over your mattress and let it sit for an hour or so. The baking soda can help neutralize any odor from the mattress with its chemical properties, as it is a natural deodorizer.

4. Carpet Cleaners for machine

You will need:

  • 1.5 cups white vinegar
  • 10 to 15 drops of essential oil (of your choice)
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 2 tsp dish soap
  • 2 tsp salt

Method:

Into a spray bottle, add in the vinegar, essential oil, water and salt. Give it a good mix and its ready to use.You will need to spray it on your carpet (be liberal) and once the area has dried, vacuum clean it and you’re good to go.

Or add this solution directly to your carpet cleaner machine.

5. Wood Cleaner

You will need:

  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 20 drops essential oil (of your choice)
  • ¼ cup olive oil

Method:

Into a spray bottle, combine the white vinegar, essential oil and olive oil. Give it a good mix and thereafter, spray this mixture all over the surface of the wooden furniture you want to clean/polish. Once sprayed, use a dry cloth to wipe it down.

Note: The oil and vinegar will tend to separate, so shake the bottle well each time before use.

6. Kitchen Cleaner

You will need:

  • ¼ cup dishwashing soap liquid (all-natural)
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • Few drops clove essential oil
  • ¼ cup baking soda

Method:

For heavy-duty kitchen cleaning, you can mix together ¼ cup of dishwashing soap liquid (one made from natural ingredients), along with 1 teaspoon of water, a few drops of clove essential oil and ¼ of a cup of baking soda, in a bowl. Give it a mix and apply this on kitchen surfaces using a rough sponge and then scrub. Lastly, wipe it dry using a damp kitchen towel or cloth.

7. Natural Beach – It’s non-toxic and whitens without harsh chemicals.

  • 3% hydrogen peroxide – 1 1/2 cup
  • water – 1 gallon
  • fresh lemon juice – 1/2 cups
  • 20-30 drops lemon essential oil

Use 1 cup of this solution as needed for laundry.

8. Natural Air freshener –

  • 2 Cups Water
  • 20-30 Drops Essential Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Baking Soda
  • Spray Bottle

Add about 25 drops of your favorite essential oil to 2 tablespoons of baking soda and stir to combine. Lemon and lavender are great choices. Pour the baking soda and essential oil mix into the water and stir. Then funnel the water into your spray bottle. Seal tightly and give the bottle a good shake to fully combine ingredients.
