Hair products like dry shampoo, mousse, thick hair oils, or pollution can clog the pores on your scalp and also cause product build-up which can be the main culprit behind excessive dandruff, itchy scalp, and also cause hair fall. So it is important to deep clean your scalp to not only get rid of the excess build-up but also dead skin cells for healthy hair growth. The way to detox your scalp is to use a scalp scrub, here is a scalp scrub recipe that is gentle enough to be used for all hair types.
SCALP SCRUB BENEFITS –
Bentonite clay – One of the best ways to deep clean and detox your scalp is by using clay. Bentonite Clay is gentle enough to buff away dead skin cells, product buildup, and excess sebum. It can open up clogged pores on the scalp thus promoting faster hair growth. It helps to stimulate circulation for a healthy scalp. It is also great to get rid of oily scalp.
Apple cider vinegar – Apple cider vinegar balances the scalp pH, fights dandruff, gets rid of any dullness, greasy hair, and product build-up. It helps to make your hair stronger, shinier, and generally more healthy, giving your hair extra bounce back and shine. READ MORE – SKIN GLOW SERUM AND MIST for face and body
Things you will need –
- Bentonite clay – 1 tbsp
- Apple cider vinegar or warm water
- Fine sugar – 1 tsp ( optional)
- Tea tree Essential Oil – few drops ( optional)
To use – Mix the clay ( I used calcium bentonite clay, you can also use sodium bentonite clay or also popularly known as Indian healing clay ) with enough apple cider vinegar to make a paste using a wooden or a glass bowl. Add in a few drops of tea tree essential oil. Section off your hair and apply the paste only on the scalp. Use a wooden comb to gently comb the mask so that it spread evenly. Leave it on for 5-10 mins and rinse it off with water. You can also shampoo and conditioner your hair after if needed. Caution – Patch test before use. If you have sensitive scalp then do not use apple cider vinegar instead just use warm water to make a paste.
