5 healing water recipes and their benefits:
Fenugreek Water – Fenugreek water is Helpful in the regulation of blood sugar, for weight loss, for better digestion and can also help keep cholesterol levels under control. It is one of the most effective remedies to stop hair fall. U can drink fenugreek water or use fenugreek mask to regrow thinning hair.
It is also helpful to ease menstrual cramps, can increase libido, promote better production of milk in lactating mother and can also help to get rid of acne from the skin.
- 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
- curry leaves – 5-6 ( optional)
- 1 glass of water
Method: In a cup, add fenugreek seeds and curry leaves. Pour in some warm water and let it soak overnight. Strain the seeds and drink the water n the morning. You can also chew few of the soaked seeds along with the water.
Detoxifying Water – Ginger water can help maintain blood sugar levels and keep cholesterol levels in check. It is also beneficial to promote healthy digestion, treat bloating and also for healthy gut.
It is beneficial for women who suffer from irregular periods and period pain. Drinking this water can also aid digestion and boost one’s immunity.
- 1.5 cups water
- ¼ tsp fennel seeds
- 2-3 thin slices of ginger
- 5-6 mint leaves
- Half a lime
Method: In a pan, add water along with fennel seeds, ginger and mint leaves and simmer for 10 mins. Strain and add in a squeeze of lemon and drink this water in the morning or after meals.
Turmeric Water – It has properties of anti-allergy, anti-fungal, anti-inflammation and can help treat multiple skin ailments, prevent acne and breakouts and help promote better skin health by improving skin tone, skin appearance and skin complexion.
- 1 cup water
- ¼ tsp organic turmeric powder
- A dash of pepper powder
- Saffron strands – 3-4
Method: To a cup, add turmeric powder, dash of pepper and few saffron strands. Pour in some hot water and let it steep for 2-3 mins before you sip on it warm.
Carom Seed Water – Carom seed water has the properties of preventing infections and promotes better overall bodily health. It can also help and aid weight loss. Drinking this water can also help reduce acidity and indigestion. It helps with PMS and painful period cramps.
- 1 glass of water
- 1/2 tsp carom/ajwain seeds
Method: In a vessel, heat one glass of water and bring it to a boil. When the water is boiling, add 1/2 tsp of ajwain seeds to it and let it continue to boil for 1½ to 2 minutes, till all the flavour of the ajwain is infused in the water. Turn off the heat and let it cool, bring it to room temperature. Strain the ajwain water into the glass and the carom water is ready to consume.
Cumin Water– Cumin water can help improve heart health and keep blood pressure in check. It can also promote better digestive health. It has anti-inflammatory properties to reduce acne and promote better skin health. It can also help detoxify the body and improve overall general health.
- 1/2 tsp raw Cumin seeds
- 1 cup of hot water
Method: In a cup, add in one tsp of fennel seeds and then top the cup with hot water. See that the water is not boiling hot, but just hot enough. Then, give it a slight mix and cover the cup and let it sit for around 10 to 15 minutes.
When you take off the lid after 10 to 15 minutes, the seeds would have swollen as the water would have got infused into the seeds and the colour of the water would have turned into light green. Then, the fennel water is ready to consume, just the way it is, without having to strain out the seeds, as consuming the seeds is good for health.
Herbal Water – Cumin water can aid digestion and promote better digestive health and weight loss as well. It can also help boost memory power and aid and cognitive functioning. It can also boost immune system functioning and control blood sugar levels.
- ¼ tsp cumin seeds
- ¼ tsp tsp coriander seeds
- ¼ tsp fennel seeds
- 1 liter water
Method: Into a heating pot, add in the water and the cumin seeds. Let this come to a boil, then lower the flame and let it boil for 5 to 6 minutes on low flame. Then, increase the flame and give it one final boil before turning it off.
