Make a rice water face mask that has skin brightening properties to enhance your skin complexion and your make skin look radiant
Fermented Rice water is rich in amino acids, carbodyrates and nutrients and vitamins to relieve dry skin, reduces flaking, and helps to maintain the skin barrier. Rice water corrects skin texture, it smoothens textured skin and also reduces the appearance of dark spots, and hyperpigmentation leaving your skin bright and glowing.
The best way to use rice water for your face is to mix it up with other natural skin brightening ingredients like licorice powder, gram flour ( besan), turmeric, oats flour, or aloe vera powder to brighten the skin and also add a healthy glow.
You will need –
- 2 tablespoons of flour. You can use gram flour, rice flour, or ground oats.
- 3 tablespoons fermented rice water.
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric ( optional)
- Raw honey – If you have dry skin
To make the rice water for the skin – Wash 1/4 cup of organic rice to remove any dirt and impurities. Take the washed rice and add it to a glass jar with 1 cup of filtered water. I use basmati rice as it smells good and works great for me. You can use any organic rice of your choice. Cover the glass jar with the lid and give it a good shake to release all the nutrients from the rice into the water, let the rice soak in the water for 1-2 hours. After 2 hours, give the jar a good shake again and then strain the rice from the water. You just need the water and not the rice. Let the rice water ferment in the jar overnight for 12 hours. In the morning, pour the fermented rice water into an ice cube tray and make rice water cubes to store the rice water to use in your skincare routine.
To use – Add 3 tablespoons of rice water to gram flour and give it a good mix. Add in turmeric powder and use raw honey if you have extremely dry skin. Make it into a smooth paste and apply it to your face for 15 mins. Gently remove the mask and rinse off with water and apply a good moisturizer.
Tips – If the rice water is too strong for your skin or if you have sensitive skin then dilute it with water before using it in your skincare routine. Patch test to see if you have any allergic reaction before using rice water on your face.
