To use – Add a few drops of pure peppermint essential oil on cotton balls and place it in your pantry or around your windows, doors to get rid of ants.
TEA TREE OIL BUG REPELLENT
Tea tree oil is one of the popular oils to repel pesky bugs and other insects including flies, fleas, and cockroaches.
To use: Add 1 cup of water to a spray bottle, 1 tbsp witch hazel or vinegar and then add in 20+ drops of tea tree oil. Spray it on your clothes and on the kitchen counters to get rid of fruit flies.
To use – Wipe down the pantry with vinegar, warm water, and peppermint oil. Combine 1 part vinegar with 1 part warm water, and add a few drops of peppermint oil.
LEMONGRASS, CINTRONELLA BUG REPELLENT
Citronella, lemon grass essential oils can be used to repel many types of pesky bugs and insects including flies, fleas, and mosquitoes.
To use – 15 drops of citronella, 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil to a bottle filled with 1 cup water, 1 tbsp vinegar and 1 tsp neem or coconut oil. Shake really well and spray it on your clothes or around the house to reply mosquitos. You can also use few drops of Citronella, lemon grass essential oils in your diffuser to repel mosquitoes.
BED BUGS SPRAY
A recipe for a DIY bedbug repellant could be:
- 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol
- 1/2 cup distilled water
- 10 drops lemon essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 5 drops tea tree oil
To use – Spray it around the house, on your bedding and furniture, as well as your mattress.

Add water to a glass bottle and add in 2 teaspoon of essential oils from the list of oils mentioned above to 1 cup of water. Spray it on corners of the bed frame, mattress, windows, pantry and in the kitchen. The strong scent from the essential oils will last for days; not only will it destroy the existing bed bugs and their eggs.
