2 Ingredient Dough Recipes

1. Bread Dough

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 1.75 cup plain Greek yogurt

Make self-rising flour at home – Making self-rising flour at home is easy. Just use this basic formula: For every 1 cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon fine salt. Whisk the ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl or put them in a glass jar and shake well.

Method:

Combine the self-rising flour with the Greek yogurt, in a bowl and knead well into a dough ball. Thereafter, let it sit for about 20 minutes on the countertop. Thereafter, transfer into a loaf pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Bagel Dough

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt

Method:

Combine the self-rising flour with the Greek yogurt, in a bowl and knead well (for about 8 to 10 minutes) into a dough ball. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Thereafter, form into bagel shapes and bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, for about 20 minutes or so, until golden brown.

Tip: You can also use the same recipe to make breadsticks and pizza crust as well.

3. Naan Dough

3. Naan Dough

Ingredients:

1¾ cup self-rising flour

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

Salt to taste (optional)

Butter to taste (optional)

Method:

Combine the self-rising flour with the Greek yogurt (and some salt to taste, optional), in a bowl and knead well into a dough ball. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Thereafter, make smaller balls and flatten each into a triangular shape. Set aside until all are done and thereafter, fry on a pan until lightly browned (about 3 minutes on each side on medium heat). You can brush with some butter if you wish to.

4. Cinnamon Roll Dough

Ingredients:

1 cup self-rising flour

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

Method:

Combine the self-rising flour with the Greek yogurt, in a bowl and knead well (for about 8 to 10 minutes) into a dough ball. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, roll out the dough using a rolling pin until it reaches the desired flatness.

The cinnamon roll dough is ready and you can thereafter complete the recipe by adding the cinnamon sugar, bake it and once baked, add the glaze.

5. Pizza Dough

Ingredients:

  • 3½ cups self-rising flour
  • 2 cups Greek yogurt

Method:

Combine the self-rising flour with the Greek yogurt, in a bowl and knead well into a dough ball. Thereafter, let it sit for 10 minutes on the countertop. Next, flatten into a round pizza base (after dusting the surface with some flour), using a rolling pin and thereafter, add on your toppings and bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 20 to 25 minutes until the edges have turned golden brown.

6. Pretzel Dough

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt

Method:

Combine the self-rising flour with the Greek yogurt, in a bowl and knead well into a dough ball. Thereafter, let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes and then form long sausage like rolls and use it to form the shape of pretzels.

Brush each pretzel with butter and sprinkle coarse sea salt (optional) and then bake for about 20 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees Celsius, until golden brown.

General Notes:

  • Self-rising flour substitute: For every 1 cup of self-rising flour, you can substitute it with 1 cup of all purpose flour, ¼ teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of baking powder and salt to taste.
  • In case your dough (in any of these recipes) becomes too watery or sticky, just add in a little more self-rising flour and knead until it forms well.
  • Make sure to always use plain and unflavoured Greek yogurt (low-fat, preferably), in all these recipes.
  • While combing the Greek yogurt with the self-rising flour, always add in little by little and keep kneading as you go. This will help improve the elasticity of the dough.
