Triphala is a powder made of three fruits – Indian Gooseberry or Amla, black myrobalan or haritaki (called kaala harad in Hindi) and belleric myrobalan or bibhitaki (called belerik harad in Hindi). It has many benefits from health to beauty.

How to make triphala tea:

Ingredients:

1 cup hot water

¼ tsp triphala powder

Honey (optional)

Method:

Into a cup, add in the hot water and ¼ tsp of triphala powder and stir well. Cover this mixture and keep this for 2 hours and let it sit, so that all the ingredients can get infused into the water. Add in honey if you wish to, stir well and it is ready to consume.

Caution:

  • Triphala has mild laxative effects and may also cause gas, cramps or bloating in some. The reasons can be either your intake of triphala is too much or it simply doesn’t agree with your body type. So, if you do face any of these issues, then you can try by lowering your intake of triphala and if these issues persist, then you can completely stop its usage.
  • If you are already taking medications for diabetes or hypertension or other drugs, avoid the consumption of triphala as it may reduce their efficacy. Consult your doctor if you wish to consume.
