5 Delicious Homemade Butter Recipes to Make At Home:
1. Nut Butter Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of peanuts, almonds or cashew
- (Or a mix of all 3 nuts)
- dash of salt (optional)
- 1 tbsp honey or dates (optional)
Method:
On a pan on low heat, dry roast the peanuts (or any other nuts) until they start to become brownish in colour and the skin starts to peel off. Then turn off the flame and peel off the skin (if any) when it starts to cool down (you can rub the peanuts between your palms and the skins will come off easily, once roasted). Use a hair dryer to blow off any skin that is left.
In a mixer grinder, grind 2 tsp of roasted peanuts (or any other nuts) until it breaks into fine bits (do not completely grind, as these bits are going to be added to give the peanut butter a crunch). You can increase or decrease this quantity depending on the amount of crunch you want.
* You can also skip this stage and use all the peanuts/nuts to be ground into a paste, if you prefer your peanut/nut butter smooth and pasty.
Next, into a mixer grinder or food processor, grind the rest of the dry roasted peanuts/nuts into a fine paste, after which you can add in the honey and salt. You can increase or decrease the amount of honey as per your requirement. Store to scrap the sides of the grinder and then continue to grind until it turns into a fine smooth paste and only then turn off the mixer grinder. Lastly, pour the ground peanut/nut mixture into a mixing bowl and then add in the bits of peanuts/nuts which were set aside and gently mix, until everything is combined well and store in an air tight container. It is now ready to consume.
Tip: If you find that you aren’t able to grind the peanuts/nuts into a very fine and smooth paste, you can add ½ to 1 tsp of oil (gradually). Transfer into a container and store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
2. Coconut Butter recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 dry coconuts
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (optional)
(Tip: In case you do not have dried coconut; you can also use desiccated coconut for this recipe)
Method:
Take the dried coconuts and scrape out the hard brown peel using a knife or peeler. Then, cut the dried coconut into pieces and using a high-speed blender, blend it into a smooth paste. Make sure the paste is free from lumps. You can also add in 1 tablespoons of coconut oil to make the paste smooth and liquidy. Store in a container for up to one month at room temperature.
