Here are four DIY hair repair treatments for your damaged hair:
1. Aloevera and black seed oil hair serum:
Aloe vera is rich in minerals that can help seal moisture in the hair cuticle. It will help reduce hair damage as it contains vitamins and proteins for better hair health. Black seed oil is most beneficial for dry hair as it acts as a natural deep conditioning agent.
Ingredients: ½ cup aloe vera gel
and 2 tbsp black seed oil
Method:
Into a mixing bowl, add in the aloe vera gel and black seed oil, if your are using fresh aloe vera gel then use a blender to blend the oil with the gel and mix well until properly combined. You can dilute the serum with rose water and use it as a hair spray.
To apply:
After hair wash, apply a small amount just to the ends of your hair to keep it moisturized. Anytime your hair feels dry or frizzy small a few drops of your hair.
2. Deep conditioning mask:
Shea butter or Egg yolks keep your hair hydrated and promote hair elasticity. It improves the body’s keratin structure and keratin is a protein that makes up the hair, skin and nails. This masks act as a natural hair conditioner and can add lustre, volume and shine to the hair. Honey is a natural humectant and can help hydrate and moisturize dry hair while the castor oil can help seal moisture in the hair.
Ingredients:
- 1 egg or 1 tbsp shea butter
- 1 tbsp castor oil
- 2 drops of any essential oil of your choice
Method:
Into a mixing bowl, add in one egg and beat it up until it becomes completely liquid. Then, add in the castor oil, essential oil and mix well until it is well combined.
To apply:
Pour in the mixture into a liquid applicator bottle, to use. Then, partition your hair and evenly apply this onto your scalp and on your hair using downward strokes. (If you do not have a liquid applicator bottle, you can use a cotton pad or your fingertips). Lastly, massage it in gently using your fingertips and tie your hair into a loose bun or preferably tie your hair into a shower cap and leave it on for two hours. Rinse your hair using a mild shampoo that is free of sls, parabens and fragrance.

3. Apple cider vinegar hair rinse:
Using apple cider vinegar for the hair can help boost hair volume, increase hair shine, reduce frizziness and dandruff and keep the hair healthy while also keeping scalp infections at bay.
Ingredients: 1 cup apple cider vinegar
(Raw and unfiltered with the mother)
and rosemary or green tea
Method:
In a jar, add in any herbs of your choice, fill it up with apple cider vinegar and let it infuse for 2-3 weeks. Take 2 tbsp of infused vinegar and add it to a bottle along with 1 cup of water. After shampoo and conditioning, pour this water on your hair and scalp. Massage it in and leave it on for 5-10 mins. Lightly rinse off with plain water.
To apply:
Add this mixed apple cider vinegar and water solution into a spray bottle and spray it all over your scalp and hair evenly. When applying it on your hair, use downward strokes and gently rub it in. Then, let it sit for 30 minutes before washing your hair with a mild shampoo and conditioner. Pat dry your hair with a towel.
4. Yogurt and honey hair mask:
Using a yogurt mask for your hair makes it act as a natural conditioning agent, as it can reduce hair dryness and soften the hair and also reduce frizziness. Honey is a natural humectant and can help hydrate and moisturize dry hair.
Ingredients: 1 cup yogurt and 1 tbsp honey
Method:
Into a mixing bowl, add in the yogurt and honey and mix well until properly combined.
To apply:
Pour in the mixture into a spray bottle or spray can, to use. Then, partition your hair and evenly spray this onto your scalp and on your hair. Lastly, massage it in gently using your fingertips and tie your hair into a loose bun or preferably tie your hair into a shower cap and leave it on for one hour. Rinse your hair using a mild shampoo and conditioner and let your hair dry naturally.
