One of my most favourtie easy items to whip up for my breakfast or lunch, sometimes, are crepes! Yes, they are simple and super easy to make and when filled, they can make quite a satiating item for a quick meal.
All you need to make crepes, are 3 to 4 simple ingredients, fry the mixture and you’re good to go. Also, crepes can be eaten both, with sweet or savoury fillings as well. So, what can get better than crepes for a quick eat, right?

Basic Crepe Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup refined flour
- A pinch of salt
- 2 large egg
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 water
- 2 tbsp butter
- Vanilla extract ( optional)
- Sugar ( for sweet crepe, optional)
Whole wheat Crepe Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup whole-wheat flour
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon honey ( for sweet crepe)
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
Vegan Crepe Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 ¼ cups vegan milk ( room temperature)
- 2 tablespoons Oil
- 2-4 tablespoons Sugar
- 2 teaspoon Vanilla
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon – ( optional)
Chocolate Crepe Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup cacao powder
- A pinch of salt
- 2 large egg
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 water
- 2 tbsp butter
- Vanilla extract
- Sugar
Recipe : Into a mixing bowl, all in the all ingredients and mix well until you get a smooth lumpless mixture.
To Fry: Heat up a pan and spray with some cooking oil or butter. pour enough batter on one side to thinly and evenly cover the pan. Very quickly swirl the batter around to cover the pan in one thin layer. After about 1 minute (and once it is golden brown on the bottom) carefully flip it over without tearing the crepe. Fry for 1 more minute on the other side (until it is golden brown as well) and then roll up each crepe. Serve with your favorite toppings.
Easy Sweet and Savoury Crepe Fillings
Sweet Crepe Fillings
1. Apple and Salted Caramel
Toss 1 cup of chopped steamed apple pieces in a drizzle of cinnamon and brown sugar to taste. Then, layer it over one side of a crepe and cover it to close. Drizzle with some salted caramel sauce and it’s ready to eat.
Suggestion: You can substitute the steamed apple with steamed pears, steamed apricots or any other steamed fruits of your choice.
2. Peanut Butter and Banana with Chocolate Sauce
Onto a crepe, smear some peanut butter and over one side, place slices of banana. Cover it to close and drizzle with some chocolate sauce or melted chocolate. It is ready to consume.
Suggestion: You can substitute the peanut butter with any other nut butter or spread of your choice.
3. Cream Cheese and Pecan
Onto a crepe, smear a generous layer of cream cheese and over one side, place chopped pieces of pecan nuts. Cover it to close and drizzle with some chocolate sauce or honey. It is ready to consume.
Suggestion: You can substitute the pecans with any nuts, mixed nuts or dry fruits of your choice.
4. Cream and Peach
Onto a crepe, smear a generous layer of thick cream and over one side, place chopped pieces of fresh peaches. Cover it to close and drizzle with some maple syrup. It is ready to consume.
Savoury Crepe Fillings
1. Cheesespread and Tuna/Bacon/Chicken
Onto a crepe, smear a generous layer of cheesespread and over one side, spread a generous layer of shredded canned tuna meat. Close to cover and it’s ready to consume.
Suggestion:
- You can substitute the cheesespread with cream cheese or mayonnaise.
- If you wish to substitute the tuna with bacon, chicken bits or mince, you can do so.
2. Ham and Cheese
Onto a crepe that is still on the pan, over one fried side, spread a layer of grated cheese and cover for a few minutes until the cheese melts.
Remove from the pan and transfer onto a plate. Over one side, place the ham and cover to close. It’s ready to consume.
3. Bacon and Egg with Grated Cheese
Onto a crepe that is still on the pan, over one fried side, spread a layer of grated cheese and cover for a few minutes until the cheese melts. Remove from the pan and transfer onto a plate.
In the same pan, fry an omelette and place the fried omelette over the crepe. Over one side, spread fried bacon bits or pieces and then cover to close. It’s ready to consume.
4. Ricotta Cheese and Herbs
Onto a crepe, smear a generous layer of ricotta cheese and sprinkle with some dried herbs of choice. Cover to close and its ready to consume.
