Most of us love the taste and smell of coffee. But did you know that coffee can also be used for hair growth?

COFFEE FOR HEALTHY HAIR GROWTH

Benefits of coffee for hair growth:

Coffee contains the compound ‘caffeine’ that is known to help promote better blood circulation in the scalp, in turn promoting better hair growth right from the hair follicle. The compound caffeine in coffee helps to make the hair smoother and shinier because it helps trap and retain moisture in the hair shafts and can also help restore the hair’s natural sheen. Using coffee rinses can help prevent premature hair greying, as coffee can act as a natural hair darkening agent. It can also help detoxify the scalp by helping to get rid of product buildup and make it a healthy environment for the hair follicles to grow. It helps keep the scalp and hair well-nourished.

Well, here are 4 DIY coffee recipes you can try out:

1. Coffee Scrub:

Ingredients:

2 tbsp coffee grounds

1 tbsp cane sugar or semi-granulated sugar

1 tbsp olive oil or coconut oil

Method:

Into a small mixing bowl, add in the coffee grounds (green coffee grounds contain more antioxidants as compared to regular brown coffee grounds, so you can also use green coffee grounds her), cane sugar or semi-granulated sugar and olive oil and mix well.

How to use it for your scalp: Wash your hair with water and then apply this on your scalp and gently exfoliate and massage it in using circular motions. Do this for 5 to 8 minutes and then wash off with a mild shampoo and conditioner as usual.

2. Coffee Hair Rinse:

You will need: 2 tbsp coffee grounds/powder and 2 cups of water. Into a heating pot, add in the water and coffee powder and let it come to a boil. Then, lower the flame and let it simmer for 2 to 4 minutes before turning off the flame. Then let it cool down completely before using.

How to use it for your hair: Rinse your hair properly with plain water and then shampoo your hair well. Let it sit for a few minutes before washing the shampoo off. Then, tilt your head downwards and let the hair fall in front of your face. Evenly pour this coffee hair rinse all over your scalp and hair. Then gently massage it in using your fingertips and then tie your hair into a loose bun or into a shower cap for around 10 to 20 minutes, before rinsing off thoroughly with plain water until you get it all out of your hair. Then, use a mild conditioner, without having to shampoo your hair once again. READ MORE – HOMEMADE NATURAL SHAMPOO RECIPES for hair growth

How to apply this mask:  Partition your hair and evenly apply this mask all over your scalp and hair using your fingertips or an applicator brush. Then, tie your hair into a loose bun or into a shower cap for an hour, before rinsing off with plain water thoroughly and then using a mild shampoo and conditioner.

4. Coffee Oil:

Ingredients:

2 tbsp coffee grounds/powder

4 tbsp coconut oil

Let this mixture come to a boil and then lower the flame and let it simmer for 2 to 4 minutes, before turning off the flame. Then, strain this mixture into a storage container using a muslin cloth or a very fine strainer to ensure that you do not get any coffee grounds into the oil.
