Hair serums are hair styling products that coat the hair shafts and protect the hair from hair damage and make your hair look shinier and healthier in appearance.
Here are 4 DIY hair growth serums you can try at home:
1. Black seed and aloe vera hair serum:
Black seeds contain a phytochemical compound called ‘thymoquinone’ that contains proteins, alkaloids and saponins that can help boost hair growth. Rosemary essential oil can help stimulate the hair follicles from within and prevent hair thinning and baldness. Aloe vera has moisturizing properties that can soothe and condition the hair.
Ingredients:
¼ cup fresh aloe vera gel
1 tbsp black seed oil
2 to 4 drops rosemary essential oil
Method:
Into a mixer blender, add in the freshly extracted aloe vera gel and blend it until it becomes a fine liquid. Then add in the black seed oil and rosemary essential oil and give it a quick blend and pour into a small spray bottle.
To use: Shake the bottle well before use, each time. Spray some of this serum after a head bath or just before you go to sleep, massage in a few drops on your scalp and hair. READ MORE – 2 POWERFUL HAIR GROWTH SEEDS – regrow thinning hair

Ingredients:
½ cup freshly grated amla
1 cup argan oil
¼ cup castor oil
Method:
Into a heating pot, add in the argan oil, castor oil and the freshly grated amla and mix it and let it come to a boil, with the flame on low heat. Then let it cool for 4 to 5 minutes and then strain this mixture into a small bottle and it is ready to use.

Rose water has mild astringent properties that can help reduce hair oiliness and help reduce dandruff. It can also help restore hair shine.
Ingredients:
1 tbsp black seed oil
1 tbsp fresh aloe vera gel
1/4 cup rose water

Here are some tips to use hair serums the right way:
- Store hair serums in dark bottles, especially those containing essential oils, to maintain the volatility and effectiveness of the essential oils.
- Apply hair serums when your hair is damp, not soaking wet after your shower. So, pat dry your wet hair after your shower to get rid of excess water (do not rub the towel on your head, as it will cause the hair to break as it is brittle after the head bath).
- Do not overuse serums as it will make your hair excessively oily/greasy.
