NATURALLY STRAIGHT HAIR

Flaxseed gel Straighten hair:

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup whole flaxseeds
  • 2½ cups of water

Method:

On the stove, in a pan, add in the water and the flaxseeds and let the flame be on high and keep stirring as the mixture will start to thicken. After a few minutes the mixture will start to foam, so at that point, turn off the flame and let it sit on your stove for an hour, covered, so that it can cool down. Strain the flaxseed gel into a bowl using a muslin cloth. Store it in a container and keep it in the fridge to store if not consumed.

Application: Pour a little flaxseed gel in the palm of your hands and apply it on your hair and scalp. Don’t put too much, but just enough to coat the hair and leave it in for an hour and tie up your hair into a loose bun. Then wash off with a mild shampoo and conditioner.

Overnight hair tie hack:

Take a head bath and once it is naturally dry, brush your hair well and see that it is not knotted. Then tie your hair into a low pony tail and thereafter, into sections of around two to three inches each (vertically), tie hair bands or hair ties after every two to three inches and make sure you gently pull your hair downwards before tying it up. Continue this procedure up to the whole length of your hair. Then you can take a water spray or hair spray and spray it all over the length of your hair and gently rub it in using downward strokes to cover the whole length of your hair and leave it overnight. The next morning, untie these hair bands or hair ties and brush your hair well and you’ll see that it has become naturally straight. READ MORE – 5 best vitamins for faster and thicker hair growth

WAYS TO STRAIGHTEN HAIR AT HOME

Lemon and coconut milk straighten hair:

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp organic lemon juice
  • ½ cup full fat organic coconut milk

Method:

Keep it in the fridge and let it sit overnight and next day you’ll find the creamy part at the top and the watery liquidy part settled at the bottom. Do not mix it and leave it be. Then brush your hair well and take a center partition of your hair and make it into two parts. Then take off only the creamy part and apply it right from the top of your hair, up to the bottom, straightening it with downward strokes using your hands. Then once you’ve finished this step, pour the remaining liquid onto your hair at the top and let it seep down your hair and gently massage it in, do not comb your hair, but roll it into a loose bun and put your hair up into a shower cap and leave it on for an hour, after which you can rinse off and wash with a gentle shampoo and moisturizer. After that, leave your hair to dry on its own, when it is semi-dry, gently brush it and leave it to completely dry naturally and then give it a final brushing.

Hair roller hack:

You will need:

  • Hair rollers
  • Bobby pins or mini clips
  • (Buy hair rollers as per the length of your hair, preferably jumbo sized ones for longer hair.)
  • Squirt/spray bottle

Method:

Wet your hair with water using the spray bottle and partition your hair into sections depending on your hair length and volume and wrap them in sections using the hair rollers and fasten them with the bobby pins or mini clips. Let your hair sit for three hours before removing the rollers. After you remove the rollers, you can apply a little bit of hair oil or serum before combing your hair.

The hair wrap hack:

Step 1: Partition your hair into 4 sections (two on the top of your head and two at the nape of your neck).

Step 2: Comb your hair in the first section and then similarly the hair in each of the sections individually.

Step 3: Take the hair section which is at the bottom left and bring it around the base of your skull right above your ear, until it reaches the top of your head. Do this similarly for the other sections, but in the direction opposite to the section and secure them with bobby pins or mini hair clips. If your hair is long, it may have to be wrapped in another round around your head, till all the hair has been wrapped around the head. Your head should now look like hive.

Step 4: Tie a scarf around your head, satin scarf preferably. Leave it overnight.

Step 5: Remove the bobby pins (starting with the top first).

Step 6: Sweep your fingers through your hair and shake it out. Add a little serum or some oil spray and then comb it out.

Tip: (Those people with voluminous hair can use this) You can also divide your hair into five sections, by tying the hair in your crown up, then completing the wrap of the other four sections and then do the crown hair section.
