7 Ways to Boil Eggs Perfectly

The good part about boiled eggs is that they can be boiled using multiple methods, both with an without an egg cooker!

Let me introduce you to boiling eggs in 6 different ways from the stove top, to the microwave, the oven method, the crockpot method, using an instant pot and of course, the easiest of them all, a designated egg cooker.

So, let’s get right into the details on how you can boil eggs perfectly using these 6 methods.

6 Ways to Boil Eggs Perfectly

1. Instant Pot

Pour a cup of water into the inner pot of the pressure cooker and palce the eggs carefully on the top of the rack.

Then seal the instant pot and cook for about 5 minutes on high pressure. Then, let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes. Thereafter release any pressure that is remaining, by switching the vent knob position.

Lastly, remove the eggs and place in a bowl of cool water for 5 minutes before cracking them open and removing the shell.

2. Crockpot

Fill the crockpot with eggs (make sure not to stack them) and add just enough water for the eggs to get covered.

Add a tablespoon of salt to the water and set it to cook on high for 2.54 hours. Remove the eggs once done and put them in cool water for 5 minutes before cracking them open and removing the shell.

3. Stove Top

Put the eggs in a pot or a sauce pan and add water until all the eggs are covered. Then, add a tablespoon of salt. Turn on high heat and let the water come to a rolling boil, Once it begins to boil, turn off the heat, but continue to keep the pot on the burner. Cover with a lid and let it sit for about 10 to 12 minutes.

Lastly, remove the eggs and place in cool water for about 5 minutes before cracking them open and removing the shell.

4. Egg Cooker

Add water into the egg cooker and poke a hole in the eggs with a pin. Be very gentle while poking the holes and make sure the egg doesn’t crack. Cover and cook for about 12 minutes.

Most often egg cookers come with an automatic shut off feature, that turns off the egg cooker once the eggs are boiled.

Lastly, remove the eggs and place in cool water for about 5 minutes before cracking them open and removing the shell.

5. Oven

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and place the eggs in a muffin tray. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes.

Once done, immediately put the eggs in a bowl of water with lots of ice for about 10 minutes before cracking them open and removing the shell.

6. Microwave

Into a microwave-safe bowl, add in water and microwave the water until hot (this should take about 3 minutes).

Caution: Beware of scalding as the water is hot.

Then add in a tablespoon of salt and place the eggs in the bowl of hot water and keep it covered. Next, switch the microwave to 50% power and microwave the eggs for 8 minutes.

Once the time is done, remove the eggs and place in cool water for about 5 minutes before cracking them open and removing the shell.

7. Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 270° F to 275° F (132-135°C). If your air fryer doesn’t go lower in temperature than 300° F, set it to 300° F (148°C). Add 4-12 eggs to the basket, leaving a little space between each one. Close the air fryer. For soft boiled eggs, cook for 9-11 minutes. For jammy eggs, cook 12-13. For hard boiled eggs, cook for 13-15 minutes.

** If you set your air fryer to 300° F (148°C), subtract about 1-2 minutes. Remember, you’ll need to practice a bit to figure out how long to cook in your particular air fryer.

While the eggs cook, prepare the ice bath. Fill a bowl halfway with ice, then add cold water until the bowl is 3/4 filled.

Remove the eggs from the air fryer and set them in the ice bath for about 4-5 minutes, until cool but not cold (this makes them easier to peel).
