1. Has your baking soda expired?
If you aren’t sure if your baking soda has expired, you can add in ½ teaspoon of baking soda into a cup of hot water. If it fizzes, it is good and if it doesn’t, it needs to be thrown away as it has expired.
2. The bottom of your cupcake turns brown
Place a baking sheet under your muffin/cupcake tin and then bake your muffins/cupcakes so that they do not turn brown at the bottom.
3. Prefect whipped cream
Chill your mixing bowl and whisk (yes, even those to your electric mixer) in the freezer for about 20 minutes before you start whipping to get as cold as possible. You’ll also want to make sure that your heavy whipping cream is as cold as possible, too. Add all of your ingredients into your super chilled mixing bowl and whisk together on high speed for about a minute until stiff peaks form. And you are done!
4. Make vanilla extract at home
Using a sharp knife, slit the vanilla beans so the beans are exposed. Place beans in a jar. Pour vodka on top until the beans are submerged. Store vanilla at room temperature out of direct sunlight. Shake about once every couple weeks. Vanilla extract should be ready to use in 8 weeks, but for optimal flavor store it for at least 6 months before use.
5. Your icing has become too thick
Just add a little milk into your icing mixture to smoothen out its texture.
6. Make self rising flour –
For every 1 cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon fine salt. Whisk the ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl or put them in a glass jar.
7. Make your own powdered sugar
To make powdered sugar at home, you’ll need two ingredients: granulated sugar and cornstarch. Use 1 tablespoon cornstarch for every cup of sugar.

Turn cake batter into cookie dough is as simple as adding two eggs and half a cup of oil to any kind of dry cake mix. combine the dry cake batter mixture with the eggs and oil, and then bake for eight to 10 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Substitute 1 egg with – ½ a big banana or ¼ cup of yogurt or 1/3 cup of applesauce.

Substitute oil for unsalted butter and substitute milk instead of water in the recipe. Add an extra egg to the cake and also, add in a few drops of vanilla essence to the mixture.

Into a bowl, microwave a cup of chocolate chips along with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil for 30 seconds. Remove and stir half way.
12. Is your bread stale ?
To make stale bread soft again, hold the bread under some running water until the crust is good and wet. Next, place the bread in the oven set at 325 degrees for about 5-6 minutes. The steam from the water should rehydrate the bread making the interior soft once more.

with sugar and food coloring – Take 1/2 cup of sugar with few drops of food coloring and screw cap on tightly. SHAKE to combine. Repeat until desired color is reached. Spread sugar out on baking sheet. Bake in oven for 10 minutes at 350°F.
cornflour, water and food coloring – Add 2 cups of water and 2 tsp cornflour in a saucepan. After mixing, add the remaining water and make a thin paste to be cooked well. Turn off the flame off, mix two or three drops of gel food color in it. After mixing the colour, spread this mixture on the baking sheet. Keep the sheet in front of the fan or the sun to dry. Take it out of the baking sheet within 5 or 10 minutes and keep it on a plate. Now, please put it in the mixer to make powder. Remember your hands shouldn’t be wet; otherwise, they may stick.
14. Room temp eggs
To quickly bring eggs to room temperature add them to a bowl of warm water.
15. Out of mayonnaise –
Add 1 large egg to the small bowl of a food processor and process for 20 seconds. Add 1 tbsp of mustard, 1 tbsp vinegar, and 1/4 tsp salt. Process for another 20 seconds. When you notice that the mixture is beginning to thicken and emulsify, add in the 1 cup of oil little by little.
