You will need –
- Soapnuts
- Shikakai
- Amla
Method 1 – Take 10-12 soapnuts and lightly crush them to open the seeds. Add the crushed soapnuts along with 1/4 cup of Shikakai and 1/4 cup of amla to a saucepan along with 2 cups of water. Boil them in water and let the solution cool and strain the mixture by squeezing the ingredients through a thin cloth. Apply on a wet scalp, just like shampoo, and rinse with water. If you have dry hair then add 1 tbsp of any lightweight hair oil like argan oil or coconut oil or fresh aloe vera gel to your shampoo.
Method 2 – If you want to use the herbs in their power forms then, to a glass jar add 1/4 cup each of soapnuts powder, shikari powder, and amla powder. Mix it really well and store it for 3-4 months in a cool dry place. Take 1-2 tbsp. of the powder and add hot water or hot green tea to it. If you have dry hair add 1 tsp of honey, any hair oil, or aloe vera gel to the shampoo and mix it well to form a shampoo-like consistency. Apply on wet hair and rinse off.
