Salsa is one of the most famous dips worldwide, but is native to Mexico. It comprises different sauces and ingredients and is often used in tacos and as a dip for nachos, tortilla chips, etc. Salsas can be made either raw or cooked and in different variations.

6 Easy and Delicious Salsa Recipes

1. Mango Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe mango (chopped)
  • ½ sweet red pepper (chopped)
  • ¼ cup onion (chopped)
  • 1 jalapeno (finely chopped)
  • 1/8 cup cilantro leaves (finely chopped)
  • ½ a lime (juiced)
  • salt to taste

Method:

Combine 1 raw or ripe mango (chopped into pieces without the skin), ½ a sweet red pepper (chopped), ¼ cup chopped onion, 1 jalapeno pepper (chopped), 1 habanero pepper (chopped), 1/8 cup cilantro leaves (finely chopped) and the juice of ½ a lime, in a bowl. Give it a mix and its ready to consume.

2. Tomato Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 2 tomatoes (chopped)
  • ¼ onion (chopped)
  • 1 jalapeno pepper (finely chopped)
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • ¼ cup cilantro leaves (finely chopped)
  • Oregano to taste
  • A pinch of cumin powder
  • Juice of half a lime

Method:

Into a bowl, combine 2 tomatoes (chopped), with ¼ chopped onion, 1 finely chopped jalapeno pepper, juice of half a lime, ¼ cup chopped cilantro leaves, salt to taste, oregano to taste and a pinch of cumin powder. Give it a mix and its ready to eat.

3. Pineapple Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pineapple (chopped)
  • ½ cup cucumber (chopped)
  • 1/8 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1 pod of garlic (minced)
  • 1/8 cup cilantro (finely chopped)
  • Juice of half a lime
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

Into a bowl, add in 1 cup chopped pineapple pieces, ½ cup chopped cucumber pieces, 1/8 cup finely chopped onion, 1 pod of garlic (minced), 1/8 cup finely chopped cilantro, juice of half a lime and salt to taste. Give it a mix and enjoy.

Note: You can also add in 1 finely chopped jalapeno pepper, but it’s optional.

4. Avocado Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 1 tomato (chopped)
  • ½ onion (chopped)
  • 2 ripe avocados (chopped)
  • 1/5 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 clove of garlic (minced)
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • ½ cup cilantro leaves (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese ( optional)

Method:

Into a bowl, combine 3 chopped tomatoes, ½ cup chopped onion, 2 chopped avocados, 1.5 tbsp olive oil, 1.5 tbsp fresh lemon juice, salt to taste, 1 clove of garlic (minced), pepper to taste, red wine vinegar and ¼ cup finely chopped cilantro leaves. Give it a mix and enjoy.

5. Cucumber Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cucumber (chopped)
  • 1 avocado (chopped)
  • 1 medium sized tomato (chopped into small pieces)
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1.5 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • A dash of cumin powder

Method:

Chop up 1 cucumber, 1 avocado and 1 medium sized tomato into small pieces and set aside. Into a bowl, add in ¼ cup sour cream, 1.5 tsp lemon juice, salt to taste and a sprinkle of cumin powder.

Give it a mix and add in the avocado, tomato and cucumber, along with ¼ cup of finely chopped onion, 3 tbsp freshly chopped cilantro and 1 clove of minced garlic. Mix and enjoy!

6. Pomegranate Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pomegranate seeds
  • ¼ cup onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup cucumber diced
  • ¼ cup cilantro leaves (finely chopped)
  • 1 jalapeno pepper
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • salt

Method:

Combine 1 chopped up pear (or apple) with ½ cup pomegranate seeds, ¼ cup chopped onion, ¼ cup fresh and ¼ cup finely chopped cilantro leaves and the juice of ¼ of a fresh lemon in a bowl. Give it a mix and its ready to consume.
