6 Easy Mug Cake Recipes:
1. Chocolate Mug Cake
Ingredients:
- 3 Tbsp flour white, oat, or gf ap flour
- 2 Tbsp sweetener of choice
- 1 Tbsp unsweetened cacao powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- dash salt
- 3 tablespoons milk of choice
- 1 tablespoons oil (or melted butter)
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tsp chocolate chips ( optional)
Method:
Lightly spray a microwave-safe mug with oil. Add flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt and stir together. Then add milk, oil, and vanilla extract and stir until smooth. Be sure to scrape the bottom of the mug. Stir in chocolate chips or sprinkle them on top.
Mix and microwave it for around 70-90 seconds until the cake is set or bake it at 180 degrees celsius in your oven, until a poked toothpick comes out clean. Or preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and bake for 14 minutes. Allow to rest for 1 minute before consuming.
2. Vanilla Mug Cake
Ingredients:
- 6 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- dash of salt
- 3 tbsp water or milk
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
- 3/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
Method:
To make vanilla mug cake, simply stir all ingredients in a greased mug or bowl. Either bake in the oven or microwave until fluffy, with a cakey texture.
It takes around 1 1/2 to 2 minutes to cook in the microwave Or preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and bake for 14 minutes. Allow to rest in microwave for 1 minute before consuming.
3. Banana Mug Cake
Ingredients:
- ½ or ¼ cup ripe banana
- 1 Tbsp milk of choice
- 1 Tbsp oil
- pinch of salt
- 4 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- pinch of cinnamon
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract ( optional)
Method:
In a mug, add in the mashed banana, oil, milk and sugar. Add the flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and baking powder and mix until just incorporated. Be careful not to over-mix.
Place in your microwave for about 90 seconds. Remove and let cool for about 3 minutes. If preferred, bake it in an oven-safe baking dish in the oven at 350°F (180°C) for 12 – 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
4. Red Velvet Mug Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- ¼ cup flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/5 tsp oil
- 3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp red food coloring
Method:
Into a mixing bowl (or into the mug) add in the milk and vinegar and wait for 10 minutes until it curdles. Then, add in the oil, sugar and a couple of drops of red food coloring and give it a mix.
Then, add in the flour, cocoa powder and baking powder, mix and bake for 70 seconds in your microwave or in your oven at 180 degree celsius, until a poked toothpick comes out clean.
5. Choco Lava Mug Cake
Ingredients:
- 10 oreos semi-crushed
- 3 pieces of chocolate
- ¼ cup hot milk
- ½ tsp baking soda
Method:
Into a bowl (you cannot make this cake directly in your mug as it requires setting), add in the hot milk, baking soda and the semi-crushed oreos, mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes, until it forms a paste.
Then, into your mug, add in half the batter, then place the chocolate pieces and cover it up with the left over batter and bake for 10 minutes at 180 degrees celsius in your oven.
6. Brownie Mug Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon (packed) dark brown sugar
- Pinch salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons flour
- ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract ( optional)
Method:
Melt the butter in the mug in the microwave. Next, Add in the chocolate chips and stir until completely melted.
Add in the egg yolk, the brown sugar, and the vanilla if you’re using some and stir until incorporated, Add in the flour and mix. Do not over mix.
Cook the brownie on high in the microwave for 45 seconds. Microwave temperatures vary so you can cook it for an additional 15 seconds if needed.
