Grilled Chicken Drumsticks Easy Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 12 chicken drumsticks
  • Salt and pepper to season
  • Sauce (recipes below)

Method:

Start off with washing your chicken drumsticks and pat drying it with a paper towel. Then season the chicken drumsticks with salt and pepper and grill them for 30 to 35 minutes on low heat, turning the sides every 5 to 7 minutes, until cooked. Lastly, once cooked, toss it in the sauce you’ve made and its ready to eat.

Baked Chicken Drumsticks Easy Recipe

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminium foil. Top with a cooling rack. Bake until the chicken for about 30 minutes.

Remove the chicken, using a pastry brush to brush the marinade on the chicken.  Return to the oven for 10 more minutes.

8 Grilled Chicken Drumstick Sauce Recipes

1. Garlic Herb Sauce

Into a food processor, pulse 1 cup of fresh parsley, ½ cup of fresh mint, ½ cup of olive oil, 3 tbsp lemon juice, 10 pods of garlic, salt to taste, until fine and paste-like. Pour into a pan or a mixing bowl and toss with your grilled chicken drumsticks once ready and serve.

2. Sweet ‘n’ tangy Sauce

Into a small bowl, add in 1.2 cup of apricot jam (or honey) and grainy Dijon mustard. Give it a good whisk and toss with your grilled chicken drumsticks once ready and serve.

3. Coconut Curry Sauce

Into a microwave-safe bowl, add in ¼ cup full fat coconut cream, 2 tbsp light brown sugar, 1 tbsp curry powder and salt to taste. Microwave for about 30 seconds and let the mixture become runny. Then, toss with your grilled chicken drumsticks once ready and serve.

4. Classic Drums of Heaven Sauce

Into a saucepan, on low heat, add in 2 tbsp oil along with 1 tbsp each of finely minced ginger and garlic. Fry for a few seconds and then add in 1 long green chilli (finely minced) and ¼ cup finely chopped onions and fry until translucent.

Next, add in 1 tbsp soy sauce, ¼ cup schezwan sauce, 1 tsp vinegar, 2 tbsp tomato ketchup, 1 tsp sugar and corn flour mixture/slurry (½ tsp corn flour mixed with 4 tbsp water). Give it a good mix and when it lightly thickens, toss in your grilled chicken drumsticks once ready and serve.

5. BBQ sauce

Mix 1/2 cup barbecue sauce, 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce, 1 tablespoon minced garlic or garlic powder and 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar (optional to cut through some of the sweetness). Rub the sauce into the chicken until evenly coated.

6. Soy and Honey Sauce

Into a saucepan, on low heat, add in 2 tbsp oil and once heated fry 10 pods of finely chopped garlic for a few minutes. Then add in ½ cup soy sauce, 2 tbsp tomato ketchup and ½ cup honey and give it a good mix.Then, toss with your grilled chicken drumsticks once ready and serve.

7. Herb and Butter Sauce

Into a saucepan, add in 50 grams of butter and let it melt. Then, sauté on low heat finely chopped garlic of about 10 pods. Once browned, add in 1 finely minced green chilli, along with herbs of your choice to taste (you can use herbs like rosemary, oregano, thyme, basil, etc). After that, turn off the heat and lastly, toss with your grilled chicken drumsticks once ready and serve.

Mix 2 tbsp avocado or olive oil, 1 tsp kosher salt, 2 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper. Lightly coat the chicken drumsticks with it.
