Shrimp is one of the most popularly consumed types of seafood in the world and it is delicious! Having it as a side or even as a main, shrimp at a meal is always welcome.
Shrimps are a very versatile seafood to cook with and they can be made in multiple different ways. Here are 6 of my favourite shrimp recipes that I make almost all the time!
Easy Shrimp Recipes
1. Butter Garlic Shrimp
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 200 grams shrimp
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- Salt to taste
- Lemon juice to taste
- 1 tbsp cilantro leaves, chopped
Recipe:
Place the butter and oil in a large pan and melt over medium high heat. Add the shrimp and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp are pink and opaque. Add the garlic and cook for one more minute. Turn off the flame, add in a splash of lemon juice and parsley, then serve.
2. Creamy Garlic Shrimp
Ingredients:
- 50 grams butter
- 100 grams shrimp
- Dried herbs to season
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ tbsp chopped parsley leaves
- ½ cup fresh cream
Recipe:
Into a pan, add in the butter and once it melts, add in the garlic and fry until golden brown. Then, add in the shrimp and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes or until done. Then, season with salt, pepper and herbs. Turn off the heat and add in the chopped cilantro and mix in the fresh cream as well. Give it a toss and its ready to eat.
3. Honey Chili Shrimp
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 500 grams shrimp
- 2 Garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Recipe:
In a large bowl, combine the shrimp with the minced garlic and salt. Heat a large pan with the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the shrimp. Cook each side for about 2 to 3 minutes, until the shrimp is cooked. Drizzle the honey chili sauce over the shrimp and toss to coat with the sauce. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper to taste. 4. Sautéed Shrimp
Ingredients:
- 100 grams shrimp
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chili or paprika powder to taste
- Lemon juice to taste
- Oil for frying
Recipe:
Into a bowl, add in the shrimp along with the turmeric powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and chili powder to taste. Give it a mix and marinate for 30 to 60 minutes.
Next, fry with some oil in a pan, drizzle some lemon juice to taste and it is ready to eat.
5. Fried Shrimp
Ingredients:
- 1 lb shrimp 16-20 count, peeled and cleaned
- 1/4 cup buttermilk or regular milk to make eggwash
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1/4 tsp teaspoon freshly ground pepper or to taste
- 1/4 tsp paprika powder
- salt
- oil for frying
Recipe:
In a bowl, beat the eggs and add in the buttermilk. Dip the cleaned shrimp in this mixture.
In another bowl, add breadcrumbs, salt, paprika, and pepper, and mix well. Place the egg-washed shrimp into the bread crumbs. Lightly pat bread crumbs onto the shrimp to completely coat.
Fry the shrimp until golden brown. Depending upon your frying method this could be 2-4 minutes Allow shrimp to drain on a rack or paper towels before serving. Serve with your favorite sauce.
6. Shrimp Stir Fry
Ingredients –
Stir fry –
- 1 pound shrimp
- 3 cups of mixed vegetables – I used peppers and broccoli
- Oil
Sauce –
- 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp garlic, minced
- 2 tsp ginger, minced
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes or to taste
Recipe:
Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk the soy sauce, cornstarch, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
Heat oil in a large pan. Add the shrimp and vegetables and stir fry until cooked for 5-10 mins. Lower the heat and add the sauce. Cook and stir fry until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat, drizzle with sesame oil, sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.
